The Pharr-Reynosa bridge is a steady crossing into Reynosa. Mind the distance between the US and Mexican customs posts, and take the left lane after the bridge for the aduana. Reynosa is in Tamaulipas, which carries a Level 4 Do Not Travel advisory; this crossing is mostly used by locals. For Monterrey the Anzalduas bridge is a better choice, and some locals consider Progreso safer. Cross only in daylight.

Step by step, southbound
Approach the Pharr–Reynosa International Bridge from Pharr, TX; this crossing is mainly used by commercial and passenger vehicles with faster average wait times than Hidalgo.
Pay the southbound toll and cross the Rio Grande into Reynosa, Tamaulipas.
There is no Banjercito office at this crossing — if you need a vehicle permit (TIP), plan to register online in advance or use the McAllen–Hidalgo–Reynosa crossing instead.
Pass through the Aduana checkpoint and press the semáforo button if directed; a green light lets you continue, red sends you to secondary inspection.
Continue south into Reynosa or onward toward your destination.
