Step by step, southbound
Approach the Tecate Port of Entry via CA-188 (Tecate Road) — this is a small, quiet crossing with minimal wait compared to San Ysidro or Otay Mesa.
Cross through the aduana checkpoint at the border; watch for the stop-light inspection system.
If you need an FMM or vehicle permit, continue a few blocks south into Zona Centro to the Banjercito office on Av. Lázaro Cárdenas.
From Zona Centro, continue south on Mexico Federal Highway 3 toward Ensenada, or east toward Mexicali, depending on your destination.
